I`ve never played at GZ, heard a lot of good things about it though. Sounds very tempting :D

GZ is amazing - closest I can compare it to is to being on an actual exercise in Germany.

I like the idea of a CiA game for this. PBI rules me out.

Only if you absolutely have to play US. As well as Brits and Germans, there'd be 2 sets of partizans to choose from too?

Missed this post. You're right enough - I'd play as Partisans for this one for sure. :)

As per the changed title of this thread, this game will be planned for July. Having discussed with CiA top brass, they are happy for Neill and I to organise it. Neill has good contacts with Ground Zero, and the guy in charge there ("H") is very keen to help. We are planning it to be a midday Saturday to midday Sunday game, with camping also available Friday night. Cost is not known yet, because the landowner will charge for camping, but it is likely to be £30 plus a few quid to cover the camping charge.

We will develop a scenario that allows for people to play German, Brits, Yanks or partisans - although partisan places will be very limited, and may be mostly filled by GZ marshalls - this would actually make a lot of sense, given that they know the site very well. If anybody wants to bring 4-wheel drive vehicles to be used in the game, they will be most welcome! 8)

For site information, check out http://www.groundzeroairsoft.com - we will be playing on the woodland site.

It is near Ringwood in Hampshire - 10 miles from Bournemouth.

We're still writing the plot, but it is likely to involve SAS (so dress as British Airbourne or Commandos), US front line troops (any) and Wehrmacht (any).

dates havent been finalised yet, but the calendar is looking to be quiet in July - we'll keep you posted we may require some assistance with props so all you modelmakers stand by, GZ is a really big site so we're trying to develop a scenario which will involve lots of action while also requiring stealth and deviousness....
We are hoping that tha we get loads of numbers on this as it is a big site so the more the merrier.
watch this space. carefully.
this is so scary....

I wont be able to get hold of any British kit by then because of other money drains so il have to do US kit, but yer i will definatly 100% come with Lamp aswell (hel probably do some sort of cheap Commando, Airborne or Partizan, also are the Partizans on both sides or just one, i also love the fact that its a 24hr game i think 24hr games are much better as yo uget more feel for it and you get to talk to people more, also will there be rentable guns aswell as i have friends eger to get into WW2 airsoft and Airsoft in general i can hook them up with look alike Brit kit but no guns so will rental guns be proveded for the few who dotn have anny.

I don't think rental guns can be provided - see the list of acceptable weapons. I'm sure that there will be people prepared to lend them out though. Yes, partisans will be both sides, but if captured may be persuaded to change sides...

I was wondering what people think about a game based on 3 sides rather than the usual 2? As I said its based around 3 teams, one german and two partisan. The Germans being the occupiers whilst the partisans are split in two, one Communist and one National/Royalist (depends on where it would be set). All teams are potential enemies to one another but also have the option to form alliances in order to destroy one team. Since the Germans would be required to defend set objectives they would be the largest team. The partisans operating from concealed bases could be smaller as they would not require a garrison to defend their base at all times. As I said the Germans would be the larger team but any 2 teams combined would be larger than any single team - something like a ratio of 3:2:2 to the germans.

To keep the game open and give the maximum choice the players there would be no set objectives to eliminate at the start. Instead each team has the same set of primary objectives to defend at the same time as attacking the equivilant targets of one or both of the opposing sides, dependant upon who they decided to attack or ally with. I hope that make sense and people understand what I mean.
There could also be numerous secondary objectives that would appear throughout the game that the team commanders could choose to attack if they wish. The successful achievment of which would affect the adversely effect the enemis fighting capability or enhance your own.

No doubt this game type might take more roleplaying than the average game but thats why I put it here, since there are obvious similarities between this game idea and mine meaning they could potentially be combined if anyone likes the idea.

Just a plea not a criticism ....think how you'd like it to pay good cash to play a game which involved sitting around "guarding" something for three hours......er ...you'd be bored shitless. Thats also the reason no ones done an Escape from Colditz game . to work both sides have to have interesting and winable objectives .

Well not quite, there is still only 2 teams but some players can choose which side they wish to be on during the game. My idea takes it a stage further and allows an entire team to switch sides as and when they feel like it, changing the entire game instantly (and creating even more paranoia between players  ) As I said though there are obviously similarities so if steiner & co want to make use of it they can.

Of the objectives I have in mind only 1 would likely require constant guarding in one place. Basically there would 3 per team, 2 static & 1 mobile. The mobile one would mean something like the team commander who would need protecting at all times to prevent his capture. The first static one would be the teams HQ which wouldn't require a guard as such as there would always be troops in the vacintiy and the final one would be a forward position like an ammo or fuel dump. This would need guarding due to its vulnerablity but that would also mean that whoever was guarding it would see plenty of action for their money. And even then players can be rotated & involved in secondary missions to ensure they don't spend the entire time in one spot.

Chaps, thanks for all the discussion about our idea. But let's not run before we can walk, eh? This is a full 6 months away, for starters.

We are currently in discussions with GZ about a date and price. That is the first thing. Secondly, we are trying not to clash with other ideas. Assuming the game goes ahead, Neill and I will be writing the scenario, which will involve a lot of interesting missions and gamplay, to keep everybody interested for the whole time.

Jochen - don't worry, full instructions and suggested kit list will be posted nearer the time.

To save this all going off on a tangent, can I request that a moderator lock this thread now?

OK folks, thread locked pending further info from Steiner later on.

For info on kit lists and necessary equipment have a look in our previous game threads at the bottom of the board index.

Churchill's Revenge is a good place to start for 24hr kit recommendations. Those who came poorly prepared knew about it!! ;)

A specific forum for this game will appear in good time.

Cheers

HS
